Hon. Collin Croal, M.P, Minister, Ministry of Housing and Water

My Dear Friends,

As Guyana gets ready to celebrate its 60th year as an independent nation, it is with great honour that I welcome you to the International Building Expo 2026, held under the theme “Guyana at 60: Building Strong Foundations for a Sustainable Future.” This milestone moment in our country’s history offers a powerful opportunity to reflect on how far we have come, even as we continue to chart a bold and inclusive path forward.

Over the past six decades, Guyana has undergone a remarkable transformation in its housing and infrastructure landscape. From modest beginnings to the rapidly expanding built environment we have today, we have consistently worked to ensure that development reaches every region and every community. Today, our country is experiencing unprecedented growth, driven by strategic investments, forward-looking policies, and a clear commitment by our government to improve the quality of life for all Guyanese.

The International Building Expo 2026 marks sixteen years of showcasing Guyana’s progress in construction, housing, engineering, and infrastructure development. More than an exhibition, it is a national platform that brings together the public and private sectors, fostering collaboration, innovation, and investment. It highlights not only what we have achieved, but also the immense opportunities that lie ahead for those ready to participate in Guyana’s continued transformation.

This year’s Expo is particularly significant because it aligns with our vision for sustainable and climate-resilient development. As we build for the future, we are placing strong emphasis on modern technologies, environmentally responsible construction practices, and resilient infrastructure capable of withstanding the challenges of climate change. These priorities are not optional; they are essential to securing long-term prosperity for our nation. The Government of Guyana remains steadfast in its commitment to expanding access to affordable, quality housing. Through large-scale housing programmes, strategic land allocation, and infrastructure development, we are ensuring that thousands of Guyanese families can achieve the dream of homeownership.

International Building Expo 2026 also serves as a critical gateway for investment. As Guyana continues to emerge as one of the fastest-growing economies in the region, opportunities abound across the housing, construction, and real estate sectors. We actively encourage investors, developers, financial institutions, and innovators to explore partnerships that will help build modern communities and expand our national capacity.

Equally important is the role of education and knowledge-sharing.  Building Expo provides a space where homeowners, young professionals, students, and industry practitioners can access valuable information, learn about new products and techniques, and engage directly with experts. This exchange of ideas is vital to raising standards and empowering the next generation of builders, engineers, and entrepreneurs.

I extend sincere appreciation to all our partners, sponsors, exhibitors, and stakeholders whose continued support makes this event possible. Your participation reflects a shared commitment to national development and underscores the importance of collaboration in achieving meaningful progress. Together, we are shaping a built environment that reflects both our ambitions and our responsibilities.

As we commemorate Guyana at 60, let us embrace this moment not only as a celebration but as a call to action. The foundations we lay today will determine the strength and sustainability of tomorrow’s Guyana. Through innovation, partnership, and a people-centred approach, we can ensure that development remains inclusive, resilient, and impactful.

On behalf of the Ministry of Housing, I invite you to participate in the International Building Expo 2026. Whether as an exhibitor, investor, or visitor, your presence contributes to a collective vision—one where every Guyanese benefits from progress, and where our nation continues to rise with purpose and pride.

Hon. Vanessa Benn, M.P, Minister within the Ministry of Housing and Water

Welcome to our International Building Expo 2026!

This year’s exposition is occurring while we prepare to usher in the sixtieth anniversary of nation’s Independence. It was conceptualized to showcase and support the transformative development of our country. Focus is placed on the rapid growth of our housing programme – geared to meet the needs of our people, while also catering for commercial expansion in all sectors of our economy.

The Ministryof Housing’s work programme and projects have broadened over the years to include the construction of some sectors of our road networks, primarily servicing the new housing schemes and significantly reduce travel times for work, school, business and other essential services.

Alignment with Guyana’s Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) 2030and Urban Development Programme for Georgetown are of critical importance, ensuring the tenets of sustainable, holistic development are incorporated into our work. Improved urban planning and designs areapplied while ensuring preservation and restoration of our architectural, environmental, historical and cultural heritage. More emphasis is placed on green spaces and recreational areas, and the integration of eco-friendly construction practices.

It is within the context of these valued principles and aspirations that the 2026 International Building Expo is convened under the theme, Guyana at 60: Building Strong Foundations for a Sustainable Future

The Expo presents a platform for current and aspiring homeowners to have a firsthand assessment of products and services available for their homes – including representatives of banking and insurance companies, well-equipped to answer their questions regarding financing and coverage. Manufacturers and distributors are here as well as small entrepreneurs. Indeed, Expo 2026 caters for all!

We are deeply appreciative of the participation of the exhibitors, sponsors, performers and visitors for their support. Thank you to the service providers who worked closely with us in making Expo 2026 informative, worthwhile and spectacular.

Sincere gratitude is extended to our combined Ministry of Housing and Central Housing and Planning Authority team for their commitment and hard work in making successive Expos a resounding success.

Together we continue to build a vibrant, resilient future for Guyana at 60 and far beyond!
